Green Finance Pro to Lead New York Financial Resiliency Efforts

A former Nature Conservancy program director with experience in green financing will lead the New York Department of Financial Services’ effort to boost environmental resiliency at the firms it oversees.

Nina Chen will serve as the state’s financial and insurance regulator’s first sustainability and climate initiatives director, the department announced Tuesday. She previously directed the Nature Conservancy’s conservation investments program.

Chen’s portfolio will include developing sustainability, green financing, and climate mitigation programs that will help guide the DFS’s efforts to make environmental issues a part of the regulator’s toolkit.
