Gig Hunt Apps See Growth From Skilled Workers in Pandemic Crisis (1)

Freelance work and money management app Steady has had a real-time view of the massive spike in U.S. unemployment due to the new coronavirus pandemic.

The job-hunting service has seen a huge increase in users “who we wouldn’t consider to be our target audience” of low-skilled workers looking for supplemental part-time income, said Adam Roseman, Steady’s chief executive officer.

Skilled workers desperate to pay their bills are flocking to the app and are having to “accept work or even fight for work” that they wouldn’t have considered just two months ago, Roseman said.
