Florida Taps Securities Lawyer as New Financial Regulator

Florida has appointed attorney Russell C. Weigel, III as the new commissioner for the state’s Office of Financial Regulation.

Weigel is a Miami-based securities attorney who has operated his own firm since 2005, the office announced in a Dec. 2 statement. Weigel is a former enforcement attorney with the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to the statement.
