Florida Banking Chief on Leave After Sexual Harassment Complaint

Florida’s top financial regulator Ronald Rubin was placed on administrative leave following a sexual harassment complaint filed by a female staffer.

The May 10 action against Rubin, a former enforcement attorney at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Securities and Exchange Commission, comes less than three months after he was appointed commissioner of Florida’s Office of Financial Regulation by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

The complaint, made public by the state’s chief financial officer, involves an unnamed female employee who said Rubin created a “messy situation” and uncomfortable working environment by discussing sex and engaging in other improper behavior.
