Fed’s Goolsbee Says He Sees More Cuts Than Most Others Next Year

Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Austan Goolsbee said he is projecting more interest-rate cuts for 2026 than many of his colleagues, but dissented against a rate cut this week because he wanted to wait for more data on inflation.

“I am not hawkish on rates for next year,” Goolsbee said Friday in a TV interview on CNBC. “I’m one of the most optimistic folks about how rates can go down in the coming year.”
