FDIC’s McWilliams Hedges on Timing of Community Lending Rewrite (1)

Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Chairman Jelena McWilliams said she is confident that the three agencies working on a rewrite of community lending and investment rules would release a joint proposal, but demurred on when that would come.

McWilliams said on Sept. 5 that her agency was having weekly meetings with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Reserve as part of an effort to rewrite the rules for the Community Reinvestment Act and that they were largely aligned on how the new proposal would look.

She would not commit to having the proposal out for comment ...
