FCA Chair Accused of Breaching Whistleblower Rules, FT Says

The chair of the Financial Conduct Authority has been accused of breaking the regulator’s own policy around safeguarding the confidentiality of internal whistleblowers, according to the Financial Times.

Ashley Alder forwarded unredacted correspondence from a whistleblower in December and March to other people within the FCA, the FT said, citing emails it had seen that asked for anonymity. The FCA’s employee handbook pledges that “your identity will not be revealed without your consent,” but Alder did not ask permission to disseminate the information more widely, according to the whistleblower.
