A senior official with Facebook’s Libra digital currency is calling on its more than two-dozen other members to come to the project’s defense as regulatory scrutiny intensifies in the U.S. and Europe.
“It’s time for us to speak up individually and collectively and build some momentum coming into the end of 2019,” Bertrand Perez, the Libra association’s managing director and chief operating officer, said in an Aug. 26 email seen by Bloomberg Law.
If members are truly committed to the Libra project’s goals of financial inclusion, “please say so publicly the next time you are asked,” Perez said.
