Ex-Capital One Analyst Gets Sentenced for Insider Trading Scheme

Nan Huang, a former senior data analyst for a subsidiary of Capital One, has been sentenced to two years in prison after engaging in a $3.1 million insider trading scheme, the Justice Department said Wednesday.

When Huang had access to a database that collected transaction data from Capital One credit card and debit card customers, he compiled material, nonpublic information about publicly traded companies on his work computer. He was then able to predict whether these companies would meet their revenue expectations and executed trades using this nonpublic information, according to the DOJ.
