Credit Suisse Energy Banker Says Clients Debating Oil Versus Gas

Oil or natural gas? For US energy executives, the choice over what kind of assets to acquire amid the energy transition is a tough one, according to a senior Credit Suisse Group AG banker.

The debate centers on the current high margins for oil companies versus the growth prospects for natural gas as a transition fuel a decade or more into the future, said Tim Perry, the bank’s chairman and global co-head of energy and transition.

“That is a hugely debated topic in C-suites right now and boardrooms,” he said Tuesday at Hart Energy’s Energy Capital Conference in Dallas. ...
