Credit reporting bureaus will have to provide New York consumers with monthly free credit reports through November under a coronavirus relief agreement with the state’s financial regulator.
The New York Department of Financial Services said Wednesday that all consumer credit reporting bureaus would also have to “promptly investigate” any potentially inaccurate or incomplete information flagged by consumers. Credit bureaus are also required to minimize any missed or delinquent payments on consumers’ credit reports under the agreement, which is intended to help consumers struggling with the coronavirus pandemic.
