Convicted Poker Player’s Son Can Sue Bank Over Property Seizure

The son of a convicted fraudster can proceed with a trial against Ireland’s biggest bank after a court ruling.

A London appeals court judge refused AIB Group Plc’s application to have the case thrown out. Michalis Kallakis, whose father Achilleas Kallakis went to jail in 2013 for tricking the bank into lending him 740 million pounds ($982 million), says in his lawsuit that AIB made misrepresentations to gain control of a property portfolio allegedly amassed using the loans.
