International banking services giant Citigroup Inc. recently discovered an unauthorized intrusion into its Citibank online banking system that compromised bank card customer data, including names, account numbers, and contact information, such as e-mail addresses, a Citigroup spokesman told BNA June 9.
Customers’ Social Security numbers, birth dates, card expiration dates, and card security codes “were not compromised,” Sean Kevelighan, Citigroup head of communications and public affairs for North America consumer banking, said in a statement.
