Citibank Can Seek Early Appeal in New York Online Fraud Suit

Citigroup Inc. can appeal a federal judge’s ruling allowing New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) to pursue some claims in a suit alleging the bank failed to sufficiently protect customers from fraud before a final verdict.

The New York-based bank will be allowed to seek an interlocutory appeal of a January decision, where the it was unable to shake claims that its Citibank NA unit had inadequate antifraud protections for customers using wire transfers and online payment services such as Zelle, Judge Paul J.
