China Probes Cash Withdrawal Problems at Henan Banks

China’s banking and insurance regulator said it ordered an investigation into cash withdrawal problems in Henan province, after local media reported several rural banks in the area had issues with providing the service.

The regulator is “highly concerned” about the matter, it said Saturday in a WeChat post, adding it will defend the rights and interests of financial consumers. The authority said it has asked the local CBIRC branch to work with relevant departments to promptly carry out the probe, and actively and properly handle the problems.
