The senior CFTC official responsible for policymaking on bitcoin futures trading and a rewrite of over-the-counter swaps market regulations is leaving the agency.
Amir Zaidi, director of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Division of Market Oversight (DMO) since January 2017, is expected to leave the agency within coming weeks, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the matter.
Former DMO director Vincent McGonagle, who currently serves as deputy director of Enforcement, is expected to serve as acting DMO director, according to a source familiar with the matter.
