Seth Frotman, the top lawyer at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, is set to depart after leading the agency through a tumultuous period that included defeating a challenge to its funding that went up to the US Supreme Court.
Frotman, one of former CFPB Director Rohit Chopra’s first hires in October 2021, is planning to step down Friday, according to multiple sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss his departure.
Frotman declined to comment. The CFPB didn’t respond to a request for comment.
