CFPB Digital Wallet Fee Disclosures Tossed in Win for PayPal (1)

A federal judge in Washington ruled for a second time that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau didn’t have the power to force digital wallet providers like PayPal to disclose fees on a standardized short form meant for prepaid cards.

The CFPB failed to make the case that digital wallets pose the same fee risks to consumers as physical prepaid cards, Judge Richard J. Leon of the US District Court for the District of Columbia said in a ruling posted Friday siding with PayPal Inc., a unit of PayPal Holdings Inc.
