BNP Paribas SA’s non-banking real estate unit was hit by the latest cyberattack, an apparently isolated victim in the French financial sector of ransomware similar to WannaCry that spread to computers around the world.
The attack was circumscribed quickly and the necessary steps were taken to stop it from spreading outside the property development and management unit, a spokeswoman for BNP Paribas said.
