BitMEX Co-Founder Reed to Change Plea in U.S. Criminal Case

A BitMEX co-founder is planning to change his not-guilty plea just before he was set for trial on U.S. charges that he and other executives at the cryptocurrency exchange failed to establish controls to fight money laundering, court records show.

An order by a federal judge on Monday in New York didn’t specify how Samuel Reed will change his plea, but such entries usually reflect a decision by the defendant to plead guilty. Reed, who is scheduled to enter his new plea on Wednesday, had been scheduled to go to trial March 30.
