Biden Israel Nominee Jack Lew Faces Scrutiny For Obama Iran Deal

Senate Republicans on Wednesday assailed President Joe Biden‘s nominee to be ambassador to Israel, presenting fresh hurdles to his confirmation even as the Israel-Hamas war increases Washington’s urgency to fill the role.

Jack Lew, Treasury secretary under former President Barack Obama, faced criticism for supporting Obama’s 2015 deal to ease economic sanctions against Iran and Obama’s public disagreements with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
