Bessent Says Trump May Decide on Fed Before or After Davos (1)

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he anticipates that President Donald Trump decides on a successor to Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell this month.

Trump plans to attend the annual forum in Davos, Switzerland — scheduled for Jan. 19-23 — and the timeframe for a Fed decision may be “right before or right after that — I think in January,” Bessent said in answering questions after remarks at the Economic Club of Minnesota Thursday.
