Bank of France Chief Defends Expenses After Reports Leaked

Bank of France Governor Francois Villeroy de Galhau responded to an article about his expense reports, saying he was “stupefied” by suggestions that the outlays were in any way questionable.

Le Monde published an article on Friday reporting that Villeroy filed €50,700 ($55,105) in expenses for travel and food in 2023. Slightly more than half of the total was for flights, including trips for international meetings in the US, Tokyo and Bangalore.
