Artwork Spat Is Latest Fight Over Puerto Rico Bank’s Failure

The lone shareholder in a Puerto Rican bank at the center of a sprawling corruption scandal says the receiver appointed to liquidate the bank isn’t properly taking care of $22.5 million in “rare, hand-selected” artwork.

Bancredito Holding Corp. alleges that Driven Administrative Services LLC is improperly preparing to sell the artwork as part of its plan to repay Bancredito’s remaining creditors. Those creditors include the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, a US Treasury agency charged with policing banks for anti-money laundering compliance, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
