Keith Alexander is an editor-at-large focusing on law and criminal justice. He writes and edits stories on that and other areas, including the government, environment, businesses, and corporations.
Prior to joining Bloomberg Industry Group, Keith worked at The Washington Post where he covered Washington, DC crime and courts. He covered the murder trial of Chandra Levy, the so-called Mansion Murders, and other major crimes in the nation’s capital.
In 2015, Keith was one of the lead writers on a year-long, nationwide investigative project that examined fatal police shooting. The project earned the Pulitzer Prize. In 2022, Keith earned the Online News Association Award for his investigation into police officers nationwide who were the subject of multiple excessive force lawsuits. Keith was also part of the joint Metro/National team of reporters who covered the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection that also earned a Pulitzer Prize.
Prior to covering crime, Keith covered the airline industry and business travel and was the Post’s lead business writer during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Prior to joining the Post, Keith was a business writer at USA Today, where he covered airlines and media.
Keith, a native of Homestead, Pa. (just outside Pittsburgh), is also a proud Bison, hailing from Howard University.
