Gary Harki is the investigations editor for Bloomberg Industry Group. His 2020 investigation into the strip-searching of children by Virginia prisons led to numerous changes in state law, and his series on the jailing of people with mental illness won the 2019 Al Nakkula Award honoring the best police reporting in the country. Previous career stops include Spotlight PA, The Virginian-Pilot, The O’Brien Fellowship at Marquette University, and The Charleston Gazette.
