House Probes Airbnb, Anysphere’s Use of Chinese AI Models

House Republicans are investigating American technology companies’ use of Chinese artificial intelligence models, part of a broader push by Congress to limit US national security risks and to counter Beijing in the global AI race.

Chairs of the House Committee on Homeland Security and the House Select Committee on China sent letters to the chief executive officers of Airbnb Inc. and Anysphere Inc. on Wednesday, requesting information to assist their investigation into what they call a Chinese espionage campaign to “accelerate its AI capabilities by exploiting American innovation.”
