Otter.ai Inc. is facing a new class action suit alleging its transcription software violates the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act.
Jasper and Michael Walker allege that Otter.ai’s transcription software collects voice prints, a type of biometric data, from individuals participating in video conferences without obtaining their written consent or providing them with the required disclosures under BIPA.
The plaintiffs seek to represent all individuals whose voice prints were collected by Otter.ai while they were in Illinois during the five years preceding the filing of the complaint. They seek statutory damages, injunctive relief, attorneys’ fees and costs, and other relief.
