Norway to Boost AI Research Spending by $90 Million

Norway’s government will increase spending on research of artificial intelligence to improve the understanding of the consequences of the technology.

The cabinet of Premier Jonas Gahr Store has earmarked “at least” 1 billion kroner ($90 million) in additional spending over the next 5 years to explore AI’s effects on democracy, economy, privacy and other areas, the government said in a statement on Thursday. It will also seek more knowledge about new digital technologies, and business and public sector innovation.
