Microsoft Three Mile Island Deal Backed by US Energy Secretary

US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm backs Microsoft Corp‘s agreement to buy energy from a revived Three Mile Island nuclear plant, as her department seeks more carbon-free electricity options for artificial intelligence and power-hungry data centers.

“We are very bullish on this project,” Granholm said in an interview Thursday with Bloomberg Government, adding she’s “excited that Microsoft has inked that deal.”

Granholm added that the project will be eligible for tax credits, as well as loans from the Energy Department. The plant is owned by Constellation Energy Corp.
