Michigan placed curbs on election deepfakes created with artificial intelligence ahead of the 2024 election when control of Congress and the presidency could come down to the Wolverine State.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) signed a package of bills to that effect Thursday.
“We will be in a good position to protect voters from misinformation and promote positive campaigning,” Michigan House Elections Committee Chair Penelope Tsernoglou (D) said in an interview.
