A California federal judge struck part of an Anthropic PBC expert report that cited an AI-hallucinated article and said the error undermines the overall credibility of the declaration.
It’s unclear how such an error “could have escaped correction” during the manual cite check allegedly performed by Latham & Watkins LLP, Anthropic’s counsel, Magistrate Judge Susan van Keulen said in a May 23 order in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
