Japan Mulls Regulations for AI Development, Nikkei Says

The Japanese government is considering regulations targeting large companies involved in artificial intelligence development, Nikkei reports, without attribution.

  • Both domestic and foreign companies to be targeted
  • Could include reporting risk areas to the government; possibility of fines for non-compliance
  • Aims to submit bill to parliament in 2025
