Homeland Security Department Rolls Out AI Pilot Projects

The US Department of Homeland Security will use artificial intelligence technology to train immigration officers as part of a series of tests of the technology, it said Monday.

The DHS’s Citizenship and Immigration Services is building a generative AI app to improve the training of immigration officers, it said, with a goal of helping trainees to understand and retain important information and limit their need for future retraining.

An additional pilot program will test the use of AI in investigating and detecting fentanyl networks, and in fighting child exploitation.
