France’s Le Maire Calls for Increased Tech Innovation Investment

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said he aims to increase the funds raised to invest in tech innovation through a program known as Tibi to €12 billion ($12.6 billion) by 2030.

Speaking at a conference held by public investment bank Bpifrance, Le Maire added that France and Europe need to create their own generative AI.

“Rather than systematically thinking about regulating, ordering and controlling, let’s first think about innovating, investing and developing,” he said. “Let’s not let ourselves be overtaken a second time by American or Chinese technologies.”
