Former Meta CTO Raises Clean Tech Fund as AI Reshapes Sector

Climate tech venture capital firm Gigascale Capital has closed its first institutional fund for early-stage companies, raising $250 million.

Gigascale was co-founded by the former chief technology officer of Meta Platforms Inc., Mike Schroepfer, who among other things helped drive its data center buildout. Now at Gigascale, which launched in 2023 with funds from Schroepfer’s family office, the firm is backing a number of clean tech startups supporting the artificial intelligence boom. It has previously invested in technologies ranging from wave energy to laser fusion systems.
