California Lawmakers Recruited to Fight Privacy Agency’s AI Rule

The California Chamber of Commerce drafted the public comment letter signed by 18 legislators last month that criticized the California Privacy Protection Agency and requested a redo of its AI regulations, according to a state lawmaker.

Industry’s involvement with the Feb. 19 letter, presented as official comment on Legislature letterhead, was confirmed first to Bloomberg Government by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D), the lead signer. The Chamber declined to say if it played a role.
