Big Tech Pushes On-Device AI as Privacy, Performance Booster

On-device large language models are among the latest attempts at a privacy-enhancing approach to generative artificial intelligence. Apple recently called its generative AI-powered assistant — which will be integrated directly onto cellphones, tablets, and computers — a “new standard for privacy.”
