Zyn Maker Hit With Nicotine Pouch Products Monopolization Suit

Swedish Match North America LLC, maker of Zyn, has been sued with claims that it monopolizes the nicotine-pouch market due to an anticompetitive deal with its parent company.

Swedish Match is accused of colluding with tobacco giant Philip Morris International Inc. to have the latter remove itself as a competitor for flavored nicotine pouches to instead focus on smokeless products such as snus and moist snuff, according to a proposed class action filed by a consumer plaintiff Monday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
