Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. accused a group of poultry giants, including Butterball LLC, Cargill Inc., Tyson Foods Inc., and Perdue Foods LLC, of conspiring to fix turkey prices through use of a subscription data service.
The grocery chain’s lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, is the latest in a string of recent complaints alleging that the nation’s largest meat and poultry producers are engaging in price and wage fixing. Winn-Dixie itself filed a separate lawsuit just a day earlier, accusing a group of beef producers of fixing prices.
