White House Aide Baasch Nixed for Federal Trade Commission Slot

The Trump administration has nixed plans to nominate National Economics Council aide Ryan Baasch to the US Federal Trade Commission, according to a White House official.

Instead, Baasch will remain at the NEC as deputy director and deputy assistant to the president, the official said.

The White House had confirmed in October that Baasch, who formerly worked in the office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, was the president’s pick to occupy one of the Republican seats at the five-member consumer protection and antitrust agency.
