The American Association of Veterinary Clinicians is among 10 defendants that were sued Tuesday with claims that they conspired to push down the compensation of veterinary interns and residents.
AAVC and the other organizations allegedly schemed to suppress competition by forcing veterinary students to apply for employment through a system called the Veterinary Internship and Residency Matching Program, according to a proposed class action filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Virginia.
The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University are among the other defendants.
