US Tells Supreme Court to Deny US Soccer, FIFA Match Suit Appeal

The Biden administration is urging the Supreme Court to deny a petition to revisit a case challenging a policy banning foreign soccer teams from playing official matches on US soil.

In a Thursday amicus brief, the US Solicitor General said the Second Circuit Court of Appeals was correct to reverse a 2023 district court ruling, stating that US Soccer’s commitment to join the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, better known as FIFA, and abide by its rules starting in 1914 was enough to achieve an unlawful objective with the rule.
