US Soccer Set for September Trial in Pro Leagues Antitrust Case

US Soccer Federation Inc. and Major League Soccer will face a jury trial set for Sept. 9 over claims they engaged in a scheme to eliminate a men’s professional soccer league from competition.

Judge Brian M. Cogan of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York in a Wednesday order denied a motion by US Soccer and co-defendant MLS for summary judgment and said there were issues of fact that a jury must determine at trial.
