U.S. Soccer Sued Over Ban on Foreign Matches in U.S. (1)

U.S. Soccer Federation Inc. was hit with an antitrust lawsuit in New York federal court accusing it of conspiring with FIFA, the sport’s world-governing body, to prevent foreign teams from playing official matches in this country.

USSF and FIFA refuse to sanction matches on U.S. soil between the top clubs from Europe and South America, which play at a significantly higher level than Major League Soccer teams, according to the complaint.
