Case Foods Inc. and Mountaire Farms Inc. will pay a total of $22 million to settle claims in a wage price-fixing suit that accuses them and other poultry processors of depressing worker pay.
The proposed deals, filed this week in the US District Court for the District of Maryland, follows settlements with several other poultry companies in recent years, including Perdue Farms Inc., Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., and Cargill Inc. Case plans to pay $8.5 million while Mountaire will pay $13.5 million, bringing total settlement funds to more than $217 million.
