The EU Wants Answers From the US on Metals Tariffs: Supply Lines

The European Union’s trade chief, Maros Sefcovic, will meet with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer this week on the sidelines of the ASEAN ministerial summit in Kuala Lumpur.

Sefcovic plans to raise a key issue for Brussels: restarting stalled talks to lower American tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum.

The European Commission, the EU’s executive arm responsible for trade matters, has proposed to eliminate or significantly reduce the duties. But it has not heard back from Washington on its offer, the EU trade chief said in an interview with Bloomberg’s Jorge Valero.
