Tesla Defeats Suit Over EV Repair, Service Monopolization Claims

Tesla Inc. defeated a lawsuit brought by consumers alleging it monopolized the market for electric vehicle repairs and services after a federal judge said the plaintiffs’ antitrust claims fell short.

The plaintiffs haven’t plausibly made their case under the Sherman Act because they haven’t established that Tesla repair services and Tesla-compatible parts are relevant single-brand aftermarkets, said Judge Trina Thompson of the US District Court for the Northern District of California in a Nov. 17 order dismissing the case with leave to amend. Aftermarkets refer to the market for parts and accessories used in repairs.
