The Supreme Court asked the federal government to weigh in on a request by US Soccer Federation Inc. to revisit a case challenging a policy banning foreign teams from playing official matches on US soil, increasing the odds of the case getting a hearing.
The high court on Monday asked the solicitor general to file a brief expressing the views of the US in the case, which alleges US Soccer conspired with the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, the sport’s world-governing body, and other federations to prevent foreign teams from playing official matches in the US.
