Sun Pharma’s $85 Million Generic Drug Settlement Gets First Nod

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Inc. affiliates stepped closer to exiting antitrust litigation over an alleged industrywide scheme to fix generic drug prices, when a federal judge in Philadelphia granted preliminary approval Wednesday to their $85 million agreement with direct purchasers like drug distributors.

Judge Cynthia M. Rufe signed off tentatively on the settlement, which would resolve some of the claims facing Sun as part of a sprawling multidistrict dispute involving hundreds of drugs, dozens of pharmaceutical companies, and scores of plaintiffs, including large health-care companies and nearly every state government.
